Go Green Gas is a partnership between Cadent (formerly known as National Grid Gas Distribution), Advanced Plasma Power and Progressive Energy and others in the UK to demonstrate production of Bio-substitute natural gas (BioSNG). BioSNG is a green gas produced by thermal and chemical conversion of wastes and biomass. It is an affordable, low carbon gas that can be used to heat homes and power vehicles. A £5 million pilot plant has successfully demonstrated production of BioSNG from refuse derived fuel. Construction of the first commercial facility, costing £25 million, is underway and it will commence operation in 2018.
There are eight regional distribution networks in the UK and four of them are owned by Cadent.
Cadent wants to increase the share of renewable gas and helps create new connections to its gas distribution network that enable sustainable gas producers to inject their renewable gas into the pipeline and grid network.
AROL ENERGY designs, builds, installs and provides maintenance services for plants that purify and use biomass gases, specifically biogas. The company offers upgrading technologies based on amine scrubbing (chemical absorption) and membrane separation (physical separation).
Institute Française du Pétrole et Energies Nouvelles. IFP Energies nouvelles is a public-sector research, innovation and training center active in the fields of energy, transport and the environment.
The Baltic Energy Innovation Centre (BEIC) is a non-profit making association providing a platform for international collaboration with activities focused on innovative energy technology in general, and biogas and biomethane related development in particular.
BEIC offers a wide range of services within the field of innovative energy technology. Through its founding members BEIC has access to 11 laboratories with top modern equipment and approx. 280 co-workers dedicated to the development of innovative energy technology.
TIGF, GRDF, GRTgaz and SPEGNN released a forecast on the 21st of November showing that biomethane in France could reach 90 TWh/year in 2030. The number of NGVs in the transportation sector is expected to increase from the current 15,000 to 300,000 in 2035, in the most conservative scenario. The most optimistic scenario indicates 1,000,000 NGVs by 2035. The forecast emphasize the importance of upgraded biogas, bioSNG and renewable methane through Power-to-gas in the French market.
